Default 2018 Softails - Keyed hand controls - Yes or No?

I would love to rotate my handlebars back toward me just a little bit, but that will also change the angle of the clutch and brake levers, raising them.

Does anyone know if the hand controls are keyed on my '18 FatBoy? I know they started this on some models not too long ago. For what it's worth, I greatly dislike the idea of keying the hand controls! Thanks.

I have never heard of keyed in place hand controls. I hope they didn't start doing that, I always pull my bars back as far as I can. Looking at a Sport Glide tomorrow, I will look in to this.

Yeah, some models had this starting a couple of years ago at least. When I put my hands on the bars with my fingers outstretched I like the brake and clutch to be at the same angle as my arms, not facing too far up or down...

The cables running in the bars come out a hole at the controls, that will be your limiting factor in how far you could rotate the controls. There wasn't a set "key" when I changed my grips (2018 Fatboy)

ADD: when I set them on my 2014 there were two dots that showed you were supposed to line the controls up with ...basically so the hole was lined up properly

I certainly hope that is so! Do you have an '18 Softail?

If it's the same as my old 2014 fatboy, there wasn't much rotation on the controls before I started to pinch the wires in those holes mind you.

Maybe try setting the controls first ...then see what that gives you with the bars

I brought my bars back towards me about an inch and left the controls where they are. To be honest I don't notice any difficulty reaching the controls or finding my hand position uncomfortable with that slight rotation.
