Default 2018 Sport Glide

Hi Folks, I've been riding motorcycles for a long time - 46 years. 11.11.2017 I bought my very first HD - a 2018 Sport Glide.
I have owned several different Hondas, Triumphs, Indians and some of this and that like a Can Am Spyder.
I am your basic motorcycle ***** going from one bike to the next always looking for a certain feel and ride.
I test road the Breakout and the Fatbob both with the 114 engines and really liked the grunt, but, I wanted a lighter front end feel, thus the Sport Glide really works for me. I can honestly say this new Sports Glide is the first HD platform that fits me like a glove and handles like a cat on an obstacle course filled with coyotes.

The new 2018 Sport Glide will take the place of two other platforms - a 2014 Honda Valkyrie and an 2015 Indian Scout - that said - I have one question:

Is it worth the $5600.00 U.S. smackers to upgrade from the 107 to the 114 ?

Thanks for the input.

Not sure how to measure worth, but if you got the dollars and you like it, go for it. I'm typically a more is better mentality, when it comes to CI, HP among other things...

Welcome
Enjoy the Ride...

1st Welcome to the forum.
2nd, not worth $5600 to me. Wait till warranty runs out ( if your concerned with that) then find a good engine builder and spend that money and get a better ( more HP and Torque ) running engine than HD puts out.

First of all, welcome to the Forums! That is a nice looking bike. However, I do not believe that the Sport Glide is available with a 114. On the website, just a 107 is shown. Also, if both engines WERE available, it should not be a $5,600 upgrade!! I just bought a new 114 FatBoy and the 114 was an extra $1,300 which is a LONG WAY from $5,600!! If that's what they want to put a 114 in there aftermarket, I'd say it's not worth it, and that's coming from a true Motorhead. I'm not sure what the dealer is actually showing you if you were at your local shop. Caveat Emptor

I bought the Sport Glide with the 107 - not offered in 114 - BUT - they have an aftermarket build to convert it, which they say is different from the 114 factory option because they don't have to consider EPA stuff like the factory. Rough quote. Top mech said the after market upgrade to a 114 smokes the factory 114. I wouldn't know, I just love to ride them! Your idea to play with it till the warranty runs out isn't a bad idea. Thanks.

Honestly I don't think it's worth it BUT, if I had both the bike and the money I would. So...

Do it!!! Do it!!! Do it!!!

Just because you can.

Welcome to the fourm, I myself did a upgrade on my 2017 ultra classic V&H slip ons, screaming eagle high performance air filter kit, and flashed my ECM to what is considered a Stage 1 upgrade. I am extremely happy with the performance. The throttle responce and the tourqe is awsome. All less than a 1k. I really dont need anymore than this, unless I plan on putting it on drag strip. Good luck with your upgrade.

Welcome to the forums. Unless they are splitting the cases and installing the larger crank, the price seems way over priced. Ride it for awhile and see if you still need/want the upgrade. There are better options.
