2018 Sport Glide

I paid $2600.00 all in on a 17 Road King (stage 3). I get a 15% dis on parts and no tax here in New Hampshire. She made 122 HP and 133 TQ. I already had done stage 1 myself. (86HP & 101TQ). To me it was worth the money. That being said the motor has blown up twice. All related to oil pumps and oil jets. I still have it, but they put a factory 114 which makes less power due to cam and compression differences. I also have an 18 FXLR. I have done stage 1 and might do a cam, but after breaking down 1700 miles from home I'm leaving it alone until HD gets the Oiling situation sorted out. I've only put 200 miles on the Road King since I will not venture too far from home. Which is not why I bought a Bagger. Can't ride anything until probably April to find out how the new 114 holds up. (Ice, Snow & Salt) The 107 in the Softail is plenty powerful stock.

Congrats and welcome! I really like the Sport Glide, and the 107 is a great motor. Since this is your first foray into HD you should be warned that your '18 is a first year new gen motor. I'm loving mine and mostly they have been great, but there is an issue that has hit a few owners (usually on the touring bikes) that is catastrophic to the motor and requires full replacment under warranty. For HD that means we have to stick with 100% approved HD parts and service. Do a search on "sumping". The parts your dealer is proposing are clearly going to toss your warranty out the window. Are they prepared to commit in writting to buy and install a new factory motor if this one fails with their mods? If you have the money and don't care...I say have fun. Many of us are playing by the warranty rules until the teething issues get sorted out. Some have had 2 or 3 motors replaced already...still don't know exactly what's failing on them.
Like I said, these are fantastic bikes and most are having no issue, but for now I wouldn't gamble on a dealer promise without a signed document.
Even with that, I'd say their estimate is very high. Your 107 is going to open up quite a bit with break in. Also you could go HD Stage 3 for much less (less power too) but maintain warranty if you do it within your first 60 days of ownership. Don't know how long you plan to keep the bike, but I think enjoying it stock or Stage 1 now is a good idea. Then decide what you want to change later after warranty is up...
All depends on your money and how you want to spend or gamble it.

Went to my dealer today to see the new sportglide. Beautiful bike. Sat on it to get a feel of it. For me the handle bars need to come up and back a couple inches. Riser extentions would probably work for me. But between this, the new lowrider and the heritage, the heritage speaks the loudest to me with the way the bike feels. Unfortunately, I will have to wait till spring before I can test ride those three.
On another note I also went to the Triumph dealer to see the new speedmaster, but they have not been released to this dealer yet. They did have a few Bonnies that looked great and a price of $10999.00 for the 2017 two tone. Also had a left over new 2015 Suzuki V strom with panniers for $7499.00
