Test road a 2018 Heritage 107 - Impressions vs. my Nightster.

I was looking for a second bike. Mainly one for just my self for when the wife didn't want to go. Now this is just my opinion. I was looking at the 114 breakout, 114 fat bob, and the street bob. All three bikes i really liked. I was unable to feel the difference between the 107 and the 114. I thought I was crazy and brought it up to my sales guy and the sales manager. They both got on the street bob and said the same thing. At this time I didn't make the decision on which one I wanted so I know they weren't just feeding me sales guy BS. They both hoped off and same damn I can't feel a difference between the 2 motors.
With that said, I ended up going with the street bob. For what I wanted it fit the bill perfectly. If it did have the 114 option, I probably would have paid the 1000 extra to just get it and say I have it. Either way it wasn't going to be a deal breaker for me because I didn't feel a difference. They both pulled hard as hell. I think the 114 will shine as far as doing motor work. Since they make the extra cubic inches with the stroke on the 114, it gives a easier way for upping the power.

Thing that may come back to bite is when or if you trade/sell it in the future ..."aw, I was really looking for a 114 ...why did you only get a 107?"
With the 114 so readily available, I'm not sure why HD bothered doing the 107, it's almost like a poor-persons version. (although not at any of these prices, lol)

Congrats on further appreciating how awesome your Nightster is. Sporties are great bikes. Any plan you have that involves keeping it is a good one.
Nice review. I'll just add that my 114 has significantly opened up after the first 1000 miles. These motors start very tight and need to run in to start to show their colors. Also mine has never "buzzed" but has plenty of great vibes above 2000 rpm. Idle is dead smooth, but the feeling at riding speeds is perfect imo.

I will reiterate, what little experience Ive had with the new M8's in the softails has me completely convinced. They got the basic DNA right. Righter than they have in a long, long time. GO the mighty single cam!
