Default Rushmore bags on my Heritage

Wanted to post an update to my original thread when added hard bags to my wife’s Heritage. I originally put 13- bags on but then found a screaming deal on aftermarket Rushmore bags. They didn’t come with any lid hardware, but I bought them to see if they would fit on the baggertail mounts.

Well they do fit, so I bought the lid/hinge hardware kit from fairing factory. (Wow, no instructions, and couldn’t find a Fische of the lever mechinsism, so it was like putting a puzzle together)

Now that they are all together, and on, the lid does slightly hit the flap on the seat, but that’s not a big deal, and I am going to have to get the street/Road Glide signal bar, cause even with the shorty bar, the signals touch the bags. - not really a problem now, but once I paint them to match, I don’t want a chance of the paint getting marred.

Anyhow, they are on and I thought I would share some pics.

Looks great.
A couple questions (can't tell from the pictures).
Is your exhaust above the axle nut or bellow (better picture please)?
What mounting hard ware are you using?
I have a 17 Deluxe with stock exhaust and I am leaning towards Rushmore bags.
Found a set panted and striped the same color as my bike.
Kicker is the exhaust issue.
I am not in a hurry to replace the exhaust.
Most hardware state will not work with stock exhaust.

Thanks

Default Awesome info and pics

Steelerdude1,

Looks great by the way. I want to do the exact same to my Heritage. So with the stock turn signal bar, the Rushmore bags won't fit? Previous poster asked my other questions that I had. Would the 13 bags fit with stock signals? And that was with the Cyclevisions 13 mount?

Thanks again for making a wishful idea turn into a reality!

Running stock headers with vance and hines slip ons. the exhaust sits right at axle level, and clearance is tight, but it works.

I bought the mounting hardware on ebay, not sure there was a brand listed. This hardware stated that exhaust must be below the axle.

Hope this helps.

I doubt they will fit with either, even with the lolly pop signals. the stock light bar is pretty long. The 13 and under bags did fit well with the short light bar. - those can be had fairly cheap on ebay.

I'm going to sell the 13 and older bags if your interested. I didn't get a chance to post them for sale yet.

I was able to recycle the rear light bar from the road glide. I pulled the guts out of them and moved it to a gloss black one. When I started looking at the Burket light kit I had on the Heritage, I thought they looked to be the same size, so I pulled the lights and wires out and moved them to this.

Bags fit much better now, and I really think it cleans up the rear.

They look great. They also look a little wider than some other aftermarket bags. I want to go the same direction on my Heritage.
