hi all -

I just got the Kuryakyn Side mount curved license plate, and I have problem installing the swingarm clamp. the clamp bolts are supposed to face the pulley, and I barely have room to tighten them, let alone to apply some tourqe. Is there any tricks for them? please don't tell me i have to open the rear wheel.... [&:] btw it's a 00 Deuce, thnaks!

I've got a Kuryakyn on mine. It is a pain to do without taking the wheel off, but it can be done. It will cost you an allen wrench though. First, find the correct size allen. Second, get another allen wrench of the same size. Thrid, apply a hacksaw to the spare allen key. You can now slide the cutdown allen wrench into the bolt, from inside the swingarm and use a regular old wrench to tighten it.

I installed it on my 06 FXSTS. I aligned the space in the sprocket with the bolts. I used a long allen key and used a short adjustable wrench to turn it.

A question for those on here with side mounted license plates. What is the best option for dealing with the factory licenseplate holder on the Night train or Standard with the bobtailed fender? Is there a replacement housing for the tail light or did you "cut off" the plastic license plate bracket? Just curious? Thanks for the help

When I did mine the first time, I removed the entire housing. I made a "filler" panel that bolted across the back of the fender where your stock light would be. I used the stock light housing for a template. It filled in the void of where the light and tag used to be. It worked really well. A piece of 16 or 18 gauge sheet metal is all you need. Cut it to the shape of the housing, do a little gentle bending so it conforms to the right shape, and bolt it to the housing. Then, reinstall the housing and you're done. It makes the rear look finished. You don't have the big gap where you could see under the fender. Second time around, I just cut the fender struts off and went with a nice strutless fender!

Medic, I cut mine off with a sawsall verrrrry carefully, sanded it down and re-painted it. I kept the taillight but 86'd everything from that point down. Ideally you would get another fender that looks good like childress' bike but mine came out pretty good. I would love to get a strutless fender soon when the $ is there!

I used a dremel tool to cut the "mudflap" off along a ridge in the plastic just below the taillight, thenI just smoothed it with sandpaper and steelwool. Looks really good and with the stock fender IMO, opens up the back and shows the 200 real good.

I cut it off using a fine tooth hacksaw blade. Then a dremel to smooth it out. Painted the insert with wrinkle black paint. Here's some up close shots:
