Default Tall vs. Short Sissy Bar on FatBoy

Looking for pictures of Softails, FatBoys if possible, with both the tall and the short sissy bars on them. Looking to buy an '18 that will very rarely carry a passenger. It is mostly to strap luggage to, but looks are also important to me.

Oh, it anyone also has a pic with a sissy bar / luggage rack combo, that would be very cool and much appreciated as well.

Thank you!

An easy thing to do is use the HD1 bike builder. I think it shows different sissy bars

IMO it has a lot to do with your bar height, a 16" sissy bar might not look good with drag bars. Ginz choppers has a gallery of customer bikes you can check out with many heights/styles. Here is a pic of a 20" sissy bar on my Softail. Instead of a luggage rack I used luggage strips from a Softail Convertible, you can see them if you zoom in the pic. When the bag was strapped on it stayed off the fender and I could use the bag as a back rest.

As stated, it depends on the bars on the bike. Your sissy bar should not be higher/taller then the bars, preferably lower. Now of course this is an aesthetic opinion, but that is the rule I follow. So if you got some tall *** bars, have at it with a tall sissy bar. Good luck.

Prot, excellent suggestion. I did use the bike builder and it works, in a virtual reality sort of way. I was looking for more ideas.

FLS103 and Architect, I am going to use the stock FatBoy bars, what what you both said makes a lot of sense. I never considered the height of the bars relative to the height of the sissy bar, but aesthetically it definitely makes sense.

FLS, that is one wild ride you've got there! And yes that Convertible idea with the strips is intriguing.

Thanks to all. Any more ideas

BUMP. Looking for more thoughts on Sissy Bars for an '18 FatBoy. The trouble is local dealers have no FB or other Softails with sissy bars mounted so I can't see what looks better. The only way I can tell is from photos... Actually, I liked the squared flat stock of the bar and luggage rack for my 96 TC, but I think only the rounded ones are available. Also, with that shall we say "controversial" rear fender on the new FB, I don't know how a rack would look. I like the look of this for example, my old FB (then again, the old passenger pillion was much thicker. I just can't picture the look...)
