Just get some Michelin commander II,s they will last you a good 10000 miles no problem at all.

I never let my rear tire go longer than 6k. I don't care what it looks like, it's getting replace, front at 10k. Usually do both when I do the front so the rear gets changed a little early.

if you've never had a blow out on the freeway you're missing all sorts of fun. I've experienced the front completely blow out at 80 mph, I e had the rear go at 85 with the old lady and gear.

I change them myself, buy tires online so it about half the cost of the dealer. Already have a new rear in the garage, bike has 5k on it so in the next couple weeks I'll change it. Better to be safe than sorry, especially for guys who ride 2up

Good move on buying that tire changer. It'll pay for itself in time, and if you want a quicker return on that investment I'm sure you can find some guys who would be more than happy to pay you mount their tires for about $40 to $50 per tire. Twelve tires and you have the tire changer paid for.

Thanks all! I didn't actually pull the trigger on the tire changer yet. I will decide which one I get by the end of this week. I am doing the research and at this point am pretty sure I am getting the No-Mar Classic? My tires will be here Wednesday and I will just wait until the changer gets here to change them. I also have an 86 Shadow VT1100 I am turning into a bobber that needs 2 new tires as well as 2 brothers who both ride and can use it. The messed up part about the front which I should have pointed out to the dealer, but forgot, is that the front tire was supposed to be changed out around 1000 miles when I totaled the front end on a deer. The insurance claim had it listed. I guess I am getting old since I don't even remember looking at it. They changed the wheel, tire, forks, triple tree, fender, brake rotor, engine guard, headlight and some other stuff. So the front only has about 4500 on it. Stupid deer! Coming up on the Rut. Going to be going much slower in the morning.
