RE: brake pedal rattling???
A well greased O-ring between the pedal nad the mounting should cure it. But first I would see about getting a diaphram style spring, looks like a thin wavey or cone shaped washer. Put one of them between the pedal and the mounting on the piviot bolt, put a light coating of grease and you should have a rattle free pedal for the life of the bike.
You should be able to get one at nearly any well supplied hardware store.

RE: brake pedal rattling???
I just replaced the brake pedal on my 06 Heritage. The original pedal did have (what looked like plastic) bushing. The replacement had this also as well as a bushing where the pedal connected to the master cylinder actuating rod.
The original also had an o-ring that went on under the washer. Eithera worn bushing or o-ring could cause a rattle.
Other than the ideas mentioned above, wheel bearing or CV joint greasemay ease the rattel as well.
I'll check out the directions tonight - certain years requiredthe post to be greased before installing the pedal, later years did not.
