Default New Softail Deluxe Owner

After several years and a lot of miles of riding, I finally bought my fist Harley. I now own a 2005 Softail Deluxe. This bike has really grown on me. I wanted a Road King and thought I was settling for the Deluxe but I don't think I could part with it now. I have read some good post on this site and thought I would go ahead and join. I have attached a picture below (if I can make it work).

Thanks for the great site and looking forward to reading more....

Bill

Welcome to the forum! I'm new here myself. Just traded in my crotch rocket for a real ride and I'll never look back.

I had a 2001 Road King prior to my deluxe. I would never go back. Softail is the way to go. All Harley's are awesome but the deluxe is special. Welcome from Georgia

ROLLTIDE,

WHAT KINDA CROTCH ROCKET WERE YOU ON? I HAVE HAD SEVERAL. MY LAST WAS A 2002 R1. I HAVE DECIDED THAT I ENJOY THE HARLEY MORE THEN THE CROTCHROCKETS. NOT KNOCKING IT EITHER WAY BUT FOR ME I LIKE THE HARLEY WAY BETTER. MORE COMFORTABLE, NOT AS MUCH GEAR TO MESS WITH, PROBABLY NOT AS DANGEROUS, ETC.

I HAD A VULCUN 1500 PRIOR TO THE HARLEY. I WILL SAY, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE REAL MCOY. YEA, THE VULCUN WAS SILKY SMOOTH, VERY DEPENDABLE BUT I WOULD TAKE THE HARLEY OVER IT ANY DAY. I THINK A MOTORCYCLE OUGHT A SHAKE AND RATTLE SOME AND HAVE SOME CHARACTER.

LATE....

I too jumped off a crotch rocket (2003 R6) and onto a Deluxe. I don't regret it one bit. Turning 40 made me feel really uncomfortable on the R6. This bike is dead slow but feels much more safe than the rocket.
For those of you that have never rode a sport bike, you should give one a try. While a lot of you guys laugh and sneer at them. They are truely an amazing beast. Only problem is they can really only be enjoyed on a race track. I used to do a track day each summer and there is nothing like running wide open and leaning it over into a turn. I'll miss the rocket but the Harley is great.
