2015 Deluxe sadlebags question.

Picked up these bags for my wifes 2015 Deluxe on a website. They come with mounting brackets to attach from bottom of bag to a muffler bracket attached to stock exhaust on the right side. Since she has longshots on hers, that original factory exhaust bracket is gone. So, long story short, has any one with a Deluxe with Vance and Hines long shots put Harley Deluxe sadlebags on their bike? And if so, how did you attach the lower bracket on the exhaust side ? Or better yet, are the lower brackets necessary ?
