Default Leather Pros Lowers

First off I know that there are some who don't like studs and I know there are some that think a Softail should never be a bagger...I'm just not one of those people.

Putting lowers on my Heritage has been on my wish list for some time.
I've looked into hard shell lowers but just couldn't find anything that I felt truly said they would fit.

About 3 years ago I came across the Leather Pros site when I was looking at getting a tour pak.
I saw the lowers and thought they would compliment my Heritage.

Then I saw the $541 price tag and down toward the bottom of my wish list they went.
Well they finally worked their way to the top of the list so I pulled the trigger.

Installation was a breeze and I'm very pleased with the fit and finish.

Below are some pictures because I know the thread is worthless without pictures.
Pardon the dirty bike, it hasn't had it's Spring cleaning yet.

I have the HD quick release leather studded tour pak on my Heritage, and I like it. I'm not a fan of lowers (I usually take them off of tourers), but if I were going to do it, they'd look like yours. That's quite a bike you're building there.
How'd you do the luggage rack on the tour pak? Same as with a regular tour pak?

Lowers are looking real nice. Wondering if the motor ran warmer with those on?

The lowers look great. I have yet to be disappointed with anything Leather Pros puts out.
But that aside, if there ever was a proper Softail bagger, you certainly nailed the look.
Great job, Kudos!

I got the tour pak rack for a Heritage.
If I recall I bought if from somebody on this forum.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...pak-mount-rack

As for mounting to it I first used the existing holes in the mount and then the Wife and I took an hour's ride.
Then based on my Wife's input I shifted the tour pak to her liking and drilled new holes.

That would also be my concern.
They do look nice. I'd want them w/o the studs.
I didn't see that on their website.
I have the HOGCHAPS soft lowers and the Harley soft lowers.
They work great and they only take a couple seconds to remove.
They both seem to scoop air straight to the motor.

If I was to do the fairing, I'd look closer at those Leather Pros
though

That's a concern of mine as well, however they have adjustable openings on the inside that can be opened to allow more airflow.
It's certainly not any more restrictive than the HD soft lowers that I run during the cooler seasons.

I ran it yesterday for about an hour and when I checked the temp was around 215 but it was only 65 degrees outside.
Typically on a hot summer day in stop and go traffic my temp runs at about 250.

I'm running AMSoil synthetic for the first time so that may help.
Also my Love Jugs "Mighty Mite" cooling fan setup is supposed to ship this week so I'm thinking that should take care of any diminished airflow.

I plan on doing some review/testing on not only the lowers but the Love Jugs as well once the temp. gets up there.

I wonder how much your bike weighs after all the mods....bet it's up there with the touring machines.

Well there's about 125 .lbs difference between an Ultra and a Heritage.

I'd estimate the fairing setup is about 30 .lbs, the tour pak setup about 25 .lbs and the lowers at about 12 .lbs equaling an additional 67 .lbs or about half of the difference.
I will say that I don't notice any difference in the way the bike handles.

On the plus side I've lost about 25 .lbs since I bought the bike and I've got about another 35 .lbs to go so if I make my goal, even with all the $hit that I've added to the bike, it will end up carrying only 7 .lbs more than it was when I first got it
