Default Wiring lighted license plate frame

I am installing a lighted license plate frame on a fatboy that only has rear signals set up as run, brake ,turn with harleys module. To wire the leds for the license plate frame should I tap into the blue wire that is power for the tail light before the module? After the module is just a purple wire and a black wire I am afraid if I tap into those that the plate will flash when signals are activated. am I correct in thinking I should use the blue wire upstream of the module?
