You can make that tool using cheap white kitchen cutting boards. Cut 3 strips, offset them, put a bolt through it. There is a series of videos on Youtube about replacing the stator that show how to make it - really simple.

I actually ended up using a flywheel crank that I already had to grab the gear on the clutch. Worked well but if I was an octopus with 8 arms it would have been easier.
All back together and took it for a ride for about 20 miles or so and all seems good.
