VIN Displays N/A on Tuner & HarleyDroid
Morning!
I am getting my 2001 Softail Deuce all buttoned up while it's cold outside. I recently bought a 4 pin to OBDII adapter to use with HarleyDroid. When I plugged it in and connected to the app, everything looked good; it pulled the trouble codes, showed battery voltage, RPM's, etc.
When I chose to retrieve the VIN it displayed N/A. I thought maybe this was just a limitation of the app.
Then I got a Superchips Tuner in, plugged it in, went to retrieve the VIN and it displayed N/A as well and will not allow me to tune the bike because I am assuming it can't "marry" to a VIN of N/A and can't tell what bike it is.
I have read that on some of the early Delphi ECM's, this would happen or it happens when someone has tried to tune it and it was interrupted half way through.
So with that long back story, is it possible to just take the ECM to the stealership and have them program the stock map and VIN to the ECM. I would like to avoid renting a trailer to take the whole bike there.
