Thanks for all the great responses. I'm getting the idea that others of my age range have found the Softail Slim to be an excellent choice. Given that the stock seat sucks, what have you found to be a more desirable alternative. Please be specific...

I love mine. I even like the stock seat. I am 6'2" 260lbs and it fits me fine. I put 14,000 miles on it since last November and have taken many long trips including an Iron Butt(1k miles in 24 hours) and love it. Mine is even lowered 2" front and rear and has not so comfy(at first) bars.

It is all about being able to shift weight and fight wind for me and I have no problems with either on the slim. I am 45 and have been riding street bikes since I was 14 and it is my favorite bike(out of 7) that I have owned in that 31 years.

I am 5'7 and I used to have a Street Glide. I just wasn't comfortable on it. I couldn't get flat footed. I got a 2015 Slim and love it. It is so much more comfortable to ride and I am flat footed. We did a 150 mile ride last year and the stock seat doesn't cut it. But shorter rides its on. I think apes will be soon. I feel like I am leaning on the bars too much.

You wont be disapointed

Did someone say Slim? Love mine. Just the right size for me. I am 5-11, 230lbs. The stock seat sucks. Best seat to get is a custom Corbin, right at Corbin. Love my backrest.

Yeah...my only con is the floorboards.....I've been making a lot of sparks....might end up switching to forward controls....I'm 5-11", currently 265 lbs.....bike rides like a dream....

The LA chopper slim long board or the HD Defiance or Defiant slim floor board will solve this. It did mine...seriously. I'm not sure where in california you are from but I ride hwy84, 35 also Kings Road. With my LA Chopper board I can get very low (close to draggin knee) before I even hit anything and I'm not talking about the floor boards either.

The boards are adjustable forward/back/in/out. On this pic I you can see how much narrower they are. I have it adjusted tucked closest to the bike.

I vary rarely scrape my boards and I drive it like I stole it. Guess I don't lean as much as some.

I went with a stock seat from the black line Adds a little more lumbar support. Also have my solo factory seat at mean city cycles currently for the memory foam mod. Should have it back early next week.
