Default Air Cleaner 2016 S 110

Does anyone know if my 2016 Fat Boy S with 110 stock air cleaner is as good as let's say a K&N high flow? My bike is having a set of Reinhart Crossbacks and TTS tuner installed next week, as well as dyno, and the tech says I can leave the stock one since it is already a high flow? Does the air filter affect the results of the tune?

A K&N filter element replacement for the Ventilator on your bike sure won't hurt anything. Will it make any difference? Maybe. Maybe not. It will be the only one that you'll ever have to buy for the life of the bike.

Thanks for the reply! I think I will just go ahead and get the K&N anyway. Don't want to chance the tune not pulling every bit of horsepower or torque available. I'm starting to like the ones that stick out at a 90 degree angle but am not there yet. Also not sure if they interfere with leg position or not?

I have read a few threads on this forum about re routing ports to atmosphere to also help with motor life and performance? Is this on all models or specific ones?

I kept the stock air cleaner on my Fat Boy S even though I went with a whole Vance and Hines set of pipes and Thundermax.

uklauren, did you get before and after dyno results on your Fatty? Did you notice any gains, or did you install before taking possession? I'm hoping to see before and after so I know what kind of gains the Crossbacks and tuner are producing. After spending so much time researching the Reinharts and finding so little on them, I'm hoping to give better, more recent information to anyone looking to do the same.

That Ventilator A/C already is a high flow air cleaner. This is supposed to deliver plenty of air, more than your 110 cui engine can ever use. I'm not 100% sure but I think I once read somewhere that those Ventilator filter elements are even manufactured by K&N. They are dry filters though.

That is along the same line of information I have so far. I was told the same thing about it being made by K&N. What are the pros/cons of it being a dry only? Seems like it would be better to have a washable filter. So it seems that the current filter will be fine for the tuning and I can later choose to change it out?

Actually the filter element is called dry 'cause it's not oiled. Nevertheless it is washable. The instructions even recommend to clean it every 5,000 miles.

Edit: I bought a 2nd element so I can directly install a clean one and ride while the other one is drying.

OK, had no idea what that meant. Thanks for the info. I think I will put the money towards the many accessories I can't afford, but have to have!

I was told I didn't need to change the air cleaner because it was already a High Output one. I did not do the dyno (Thundermax).
