It seems the couple I've seem that claim that kind of performance like a little more compression than a stock 96. What would be the easiest/cheapest way to bring the compression up enough?

I'm considering the gear change but that seems like alot of work and a fair amount of special tools. Considering I need the tuning anyway it seems like cams would be about the same as the 30/70 swap, weather done by me or a shop.

KW - Remember one thing, with just bolt in cams you can't have it both ways (Great low and great high RPM's TQ) without more engine mods.. like higher compression and Head porting.

Most cam mods produce either better Low-Mid TQ (1800- 4500)or Mid-High TQ (3000-6500) improvements.
your style of riding will determine what cams would be better for you..

here's some more stuff to read and learn from..

Now for some other good bolt in cams,,

S&S 551's.. My son has this cam in his 10 Street glide, a 96''er, it will net a little more TQ than the 26's but need a really good tuner to get them dialed in.. plus now they have CR's built in them.

Andrews 48. Lots of good reviews, but I don't know anyone who has them

SE 211's -- if you raise the compressing and do a good port to the heads this cam will give you really good TQ from low to high rpms.

And the one I really liked, but couldn't find in in 08 because Crane went out of business was the Crane HTC 300-2... I have heard that someone bought Crane and started make that Cam again in 09 or 10???

Also several Woods cams like the 222's and 555's.. Woods cams usually will net you more TQ and HP than most other bolt-ins. but they are $$$ more than most others..

Again.. just take your time and study up on what to get and you'll finally know which one you like..

Some one asked price on cams & wanted to know what was reasonable: well.....I have been going through the Cam procrastination mode for months & all I can say is this:
Through HD all the parts I need - now mind you I'm doing the cam chest upgrade 02 heritage came to $1280.72 +/- not including tax & this was with a 20% discount.

I was a little miffed due to the fact that it seemed certain parts were higher priced than normal - so I left well enough alone at this point.

My first choice & what I'm going with will be the Woods RCC2, TW-6`s & the rest of the goodies for the Install, Total is over $1600.00, but my thought = in for a penny in for a pound! & in the grand scheme of things if my dealer wasn't offering 20% off their price would be close to the woods set up!

Now all I need to know is when I do this will I need a ECM re-calibration? if so there goes more $$$$
