Favorite style and sized apes?
Im interested in getting apes because ive heard they are very comfortable, now i know ive got to change cables and wires. Gonna coast a bit. But i just want to know if they are as comfy as others say or if theyre full of crap. I must admit that i love the way they look.
Now im 6'1" with a 6'4 1/2" wingspan and pretty wide shoulers. Ive got a 2002 standard. What would be an ideal height on bars.
I believe Washington state has a requirement that your hands cant go passed your shoulders, but most people around here dont follow that law.

Go to BR's Custom Bars, he's got great bars and shows you how to measure for them. I'd say most comfortable is subjective, but over all hands about even with shoulders or just a little higher is best. JMO. Also if you do a search on here there's a ton of threads on this subject, just sayin.

When I went to apes on Softails nearly 10 years ago, I researched and ultimately went with Wild One Chubby and Carlini apes. Both are high quality! No issues after all these years. I love the riding position the apes afford with none of the pressure on the lower back that you get with other bars. I even added apes to my CVO Ultra for the comfort. Ron

All apes pictured above look. nice. There is no perfect fit-all set. It all depends on style of bike, preference and size of rider, etc.
I'm 6' and have 16" wide apes.
I have a 71" wingspan with mine are 36" wide.
Pull back can be adjust by angle, so its a cool factor decision
Chubby's would look funny on mine, great on a Fatboy.
I like apes to meet trees at bottom and flair out from there.
Curved apes, like Carlinis are cool.
Riders 5'10" to 6' riders probably fit 12"-14" best.
