97 FXSTS - Intermittent Spark Problem
97 FXSTS (Softtail Springer)
Still Trying to figure this out. Believe me, you guys and gals are smarter then me so help a guy out.
No spark to plugs.
Starts great. Runs for about 5 minutes idling, then dies. No spark.
Lights are still working. so has power.
It does not putter like its loosing fuel. It instantly quits.
Let set for a few minutes (5-8 minutes) then has a spark and starts.
Rode it about 3 miles to a exercise facility and stay an hour. Came out, started, riding home it looses power for about 2-3 seconds as I coast along then takes off and I make it home. This is consistent each day.
Changed coil but still died.
Replaced the ignition module. no help.
Ideas please.

there's some very knowledgeable guys in the EVO section....one thing to check in the timing pick up in the nose cone. if the epoxy is oozing it could be breaking down an when it gets hot it doesn't signal the coil to fire. it's also referred to as the cam position sensor:

The same problem, FLSTS 1999. Do you guys figure out this? All gum from cam position sensor melted down and leak out, but it was like this for a long time. Now it start jerking and popping when it's hot ~150F
