Nomad, he knows that and mentioned the inner chain. He was really pushing gear drive, but at my age I don't put many miles on anymore...about 4 or 5000 per year. I figure I have maybe 6-8 years of riding left so I'm thinking this setup should last 30000-40000 miles.

If he does the work correctly, I believe it will.

What's that supposed to mean? I consider myself still quite young with at least 20 more years of riding but I don't manage to put 5000 miles on my bike a year...wish I could though.

If the tensioners "exploded" in the cam chest, then that would mean there would have been plastic and metal going through the whole engine requiring the cases to be split.

What I don't understand is how it started spewing oil from the cam cover and you continued riding after seeing that happen.

Actually oil was spewing from the intake, not the cam chest and I was less than a mile from my Indy so rode the bike to his shop. No harm done except oil covered the right side of bike.

I just did the feuling cam plate kit with oil pump and upgraded everything to the 07' style and newer from the sprockets, chains etc etc also replaced the inner cam bearings in the block as well. If you do upgrade to a newer style I suggest doing it all instead of half assin' it
