Cant believe we are thinking about winter mods already
#13
It'll still be ridin' weather here in Central California till December. It's really hot now, so I just go out when the sun comes up to take advantage of the cool morning air. Glorious!
I did most of my cosmetic stuff last winter, and right at this very moment, I have a local guy doing the upholstery on the stock seat. He did new foam, and I went out last week and did a test ride on the bare foam to check the overall shape. So just waiting for the covering to be done. I also did a tubeless spoked wheel conversion using HDs profile rims designed to be run tubeless.
So......for this winter, I've been gathering parts for a top end rebuild. Bike has 54,000 miles, and doesn't really need it, but it makes a lot of top end noise when hot. So far I've purchased new S&S lifters and adjustable pushrods, rocker lockers (or whatever they're called) cam chain tensioner shoes. Chris Rivas (nhra pro stock motorcycle fame) is gonna do the headwork, and I think I might change cams to S&S 509s unless I opt for opening it up from 88c.i. to 97 or 98 inches in which case the cam selection would go along with that.
Fun stuff!
