Default 2007 Heritage Classic Gas gauge

When my gas guage reads on fumes, I can only get in 3 gals in a 5 gal tank.
How is everyone else doing with this?

The dealer can adjust the float but it seems that it's kind of a guessing game. No one trusts their gauge anyway, always use the trip-meter.

I don't even use the guage. I use the trip computer and every 170 to 180 miles, it's time to fill up.

The light comes on around 110 miles. I've never trusted the guage orthelow fuel light. On average, my mileage is 37 mpg. I'll fill up at 157-160 miles and reset my trip odometer.

I use the trip meter as well. I have never gotten more than 3 1/2 gallons in the fuel tank when I fill up

I have a 2007 FLSTC also and the gas gage on the tank is only semi-accurate. It shows that I am at the 1/2 way point in the "Red Zone" (about 1/8 of afull tank) when the "Low Fuel" indicator light comes on. This has happened at about 137 miles. I stopped a couple miles later and it only took 3.8 gallons to fill the tank back up. So, instead of being at 1/8 of a tank, it was really at 1/4 of a tank remaining.

So, inshort, as the guys abovesaid - don't trust the gas gage but go by yourtrip odometer. Reset the "B" trip odometer every timeyou fill up and plan to top-off when it reads anywhere between 110 to 130 miles (you need to determine what mileage point is best with your bike). You could probably push this up further, but why chance it.

Everyone knows that the Harley gas gages are not very accurate or trustworthy, but I have to also wonder if a Harley 5 gallon gas tank really holds an accurate 5 gallons of gas? If it does, then I feel I could easily go on up to 150 to 160 miles before I absolutely had to fill-up. But again, why chance it?

OK Thanks guys, 50 mile RT to work, so I can probably get three in before a fill up. Just don't want the guage to get to "W", (walk).

My gas guage is the biggest POS ever. I also just use the trip meter and unless I'm on the highway in 6th I get 35 MPG. Yeah it sucks filling up every 140 miles especially when I fill up with my buddies and they get 200+ miles on a full tank.

I am assuming this is the same for the Deluxe. Mine came on today when I started the bike. It only had 97 miles on it (hell my sporty did better thanthat). It stayed on for about 10 miles or so then went off and did not come back on until around 140 miles.
