Neat clean install. Looks good. I used a different cooler on my Sportster. I used a natural finish Wimmer billet cooler with black fins. I just liked the looks and it cools about ten degrees on a ninety five degree day as long as I am moving. I am not sure it there is any benefit in a lot of stop and go traffick. I don't have an oil temp gauge so I got an oil dipstick temp gauge. I mounted mine on the down tube and used stainless braided hose with AN fittings. The longest hose is about four inches long.

Exactly the same components I used on my OL's Iron, but I went with 45's to
the filter adapter instead of 90's. Here's a few pics;

Is this a longevity thing? I've gone 25k miles in Florida and SoCal without any issues.

Only if you've had issues with your bike overheating. Even so, I'd try "tuning" it out before putting an oil cooler on. My personal belief, but if H-Ds really needed an oil cooler, they'd come with them...

Some of the new 2016 bikes come with an integrated oil cooler. Whether it's needed or not I don't know but it can't hurt.
An oil cooler will not necessarily make a bike run cooler like a fan would. Having some heat pulled out of the oil could be beneficial nonetheless.

Nah, can't hurt, for sure, but as hot as it gets even in Japan, sometimes, I've never seen a need for an oil cooler on my bike. They are certainly not as big as an eyesore as a full-blown radiator or those ugly fans I see some people running...

So I'm sure I'll get flack for this, but oh well...

When did 'need' come into play?

Do I 'need' some ugly Apes ? no,..
Do I 'need' a wide 200 rear tire? no...
Do I 'need' some aftermarket exhausts? no...

Guess I I dont see the issue - think of it as another 'customization'
or 'modification' whether its 'needed' or not.
