Correct, theirs has a better setup. You did it right, fully CCW against the stop. I had the same questions you had but it doesn't spin due to where it's resting against the bearing. Don't forget to zip tie the excess wire to the swing arm.

Asking for explanations about how HD has decided to some things is a bit of a rabbit hole. Sometimes driving a whole new 3rd party aftermarket due to less-than-ideal design. Such as the chain tensioner in the primary.

Default I think the abs pin rests wherever it locates when you tighten everything up ,,, mine is against the bracket
