Default Post number 201 a proud day

Well, two years and 200 posts later I am almost done with my build. I originally posted asking if I could put Heritage/Deluxe style fenders and front end on my FXSTI. Before all you FXST fans get in a tizzy let me explain. I was between jobs, moving etc. If I was going to get my Softail, it had to be at a certain time and price. The window presented itself. My friend who accompanied me to the dealer spoke the words of wisdom "all Softail frames are the same, you can build it however you want it". The rest is history. I have changed pipes, bars, lights, cables, rims, lower legs, hardware, seats, pegs etc. etc. etc. I am waiting for a few more pieces that areon order. Then I will finish up. I took it over to the pinstripers the other night- it came out sweet. Once I getwax on it i will take pics and post. When it is all said and done I will post in the Heritage section as a mutt. For now the before and after pics should be in thumbnail in the post. It has been hours and hours fun turning the wrenches, butmilesand milesof fun turning the throttle.

So why didn't you just buy a heritage?

Well that was one hell of a lot of work, and very well done work at that.

No one who owns a Standard should feel in the slightest offended that you dind't leave it alone.
IMHO that's what the Standard was made for, modifying. I almost bought a Standard so I could make a Custom out of it, then I found out they were making Customs again, so I got one instead.
But I must admit, you went a lot farther than anyone else has that I know of.

Very nice job.[sm=Flahssssss.gif]

I really wanted a Deluxe, but like I say I was pending a job change and money was tight.
