Default Engine Replacement

I have an 02 Fatboy with the carbed engine. I am going to be doing an engine swap in the near future and want to go to a larger engine and 6 speed trans. My question is what is the best options for larger engine? i was looking at the S&S 124. Any other suggestions or opinions from riders who have upgraded their engines? Pros/Cons? Thanks in advance.

Cons
An S&S 124 and a nice 6 speed... will easily cost way more than an 02 Fatboy is worth. How do you plane to insure it? If it is stolen you will get less than the motor cost if you don't have extra coverage.

IIRC, you have a softail. You need a 'B' motor. S&S doesn't have them Only HD and JIMS

Yes it is the B motor. Thanks I didn't know the S&S wouldn't fit.

I put a S&S 124" Hot Setup Kit w/ a Baker DD6 in my TC88.

I still have a bigger grin factor on my 100% stock Triumph Street Triple. It cost less from a brand new bike than it did going to 124".

I'm pretty sure S&S has the T-Series motors that fit the "B" mounting requirement - for example, Star Racing has a few complete motors in a B mount. http://www.starracing.com/SS124Engine07-up.php

Baker trans all the way! love my OD6 in the Big Dog chopper.

That is for the '07 & up, not the '99-'06 models. OP has an '02.

The "B" motor is not a mount issue as much as it being a solid mount That is why the B stands for the counter balance shafts to make the bike livable. The early B motors are probably more cost effective by going to the 120r and the 6 into 5 case option from HD. Do it over the winter at the local dealer, and it would probably also include the winter storage and a warranty.
