Default Two Up Rack for 08' FLSTC, Definitive Answer

I have exhausted every research, Q&A section, and website I can think of or find, so I'm going to ask the question here.

I want to put a two up rack on an 08' FLSTC. For whatever reason, this year/model seems to be the black hole of HD bolt on parts, comparatively few aftermarket parts made and according to fitment charts, few if any cross over references or year model carryovers. So far no HD parts mgr can or will give me a definitive answer. So I bring the question to this forum as I figure someone here has to have experience dealing with this.

HD lists the proper Two Up Rack for an 08' FLSTC as part number 53066-00D. I have also seen listed as fitting that year/model part number 53066-00C. Both of these racks are next to impossible to find used and to date I've found no one who makes one aftermarket. I know I can buy a new one from HD, but if I can save a hundred bucks on a use or aftermarket rack, it's worth taking the time to find the definitive answer.

The question comes in regarding part number 54051-08, the two up rack listed on HD sites for ’06-later FXST, FXSTB, FXSTS, FLSTFSE2 and ’07-later FXSTC, FXSTSSE/2, FLSTF, FLSTFB and FLSTSB models.

I have seen this rack listed in association with the -66 racks. I have not been able to compare the two side by side, but visually they appear to be identical in all respects, including dimensions. The -08 is quite common aftermarket and used ones are not exactly rare either. I have heard from some it is identical and will work, and other that for whatever reason, the 08' FLSTC must use the 53066 C/D, period. None of these opinions so far, have actually put one of these racks on the bike in question.

So the question is, has anyone any actual experience fitting or trying to fit a 54051-08 on an 08' FLSTC (obviously with the appropriate docking hardware kit). Barring that, does anyone have any knowledge of an aftermarket 53066-C or D being made?

Try Motherwell Products. I had a similar issues with finding a solo rack for my 06. Folks at Motherwell were very helpful. A little fender surgery and it's done. I'm very pleased with the quality of Motherwell racks.

First off welcome to the forum.

I can't answer your question as to trying to fit a 54051-08 on a Heritage, but used 53066's are out there you just have to be patient and diligent in your search.

During my search I found that even though some mounts looked similar the differences was the width distance between the mounting points both side to side and front to back.

I found mine I believe on e-Bay for $150.

What purpose do you have for it?
If you're going to mount a tour pak to it, I might be able to provide a temporary solution for you.

When I bought my leather tour pak it came with a mount I believe the seller told me fit a 1998 Heritage.
I just assumed that it wouldn't fit my 2009 Heritage but that's OK I got the entire setup for around $175 so that left room for me to buy the correct mount.

When I got the setup home I found that the mount actually did bolt up to my 2009 Heritage.
So even though it wasn't in the best of shape, the mount worked fine until I was able to come across a nice used 53066-00C for a decent price.

I used it for some time before I pulled the trigger on the new style mount.
With the tour pak mounted the worst appearance part of the mount wasn't visible.

If you're willing to send me $25 via PayPal gift or just mail it to me to cover shipping I'll give you the mount that came with my tour pak.
It's just sitting in my garage taking up space anyway.

PM me if you'd like it.
Below is some pictures of it.

Got you PM and the $25.
I'll try to get it in the mail tomorrow.

I can't attached a pic to the PM so below is the mount installed on my 09 Heritage with the tour pak bolted on it.
