Default Sundowner seat

Has anybody here changed out the stock king and queen seat on a Custom to a deep bucket sundowner? I am thinking about picking up one for a good deal and I have seen that it sits you lower which I like but more forward which I don't like. Forward controls are getting pushed forward this winter but I don't want to feel more cramped until then.

Will they let you put one on the bike and try it out?

Sure, before I bought my Signature Series seat I demo'd it and the Sundowner for a weekend each.

BTW they both rode the same with the Signature Series with a integrated backrest.

If you are going for the bucks get the one that will accomodate a driver back rest. I didn't think I would ever use one but times changed. A back rest is great on long rides.

Gotta agree.. Got a signature for long trips, and the sundowner for around town. Love them both.

Thank guys. I don't really like the look of the Sundowner but I think I will go try one out since it seems comfortable to everyone. I wish the older Softail Custom pillow seat would fit the wide tired Customs. I would grab one of those.

I've had one on my '16 for about 800 miles. I love it and so does the gf.

I have read that they sit you forward some but from that side view it doesn't look like it. I still haven't been able to get by the shop yet to try one out. They look comfy. I just wish Harley had of made the passenger backrest about 4-5 inches taller on the stock seat and I wouldn't have to even worry about it.

If your problem is the passenger backrest being too short, a change in seats is probably going to make it worst since most improved seats are thicker.

Other than going with a sissy bar I don't see how you are going to get a taller passenger back rest.

I'm not aware of any seat upgrades that include a passenger backrest much less one that's taller.
