Default Softail cruise control

Has anybody come up with an affordable cruise control/throttle lock set up for early Softails yet? I've seen the cheezy screw levers that don't allow for much movement between the dual cables and the $200 clamp gizmos that are way over priced. Just like checking every now and then to see if perhaps there are any alternatives.

Idk what affordable means, relatively speaking..
If you amortize, and actually use it. It's worth it to me.. Big time..
I don't say what i paid. I really like mine alot..
It was north of 1k tho

Realistically if you want cruise trade for a 2016 model.

I run with a lot of Softail riders and even though almost all say they would like to have true cruise control I haven't run into anyone who wants it enough to spend what it cost to add it.

However as "amkaos" stated, if the desire is there and the funds are available there is a way.

I've looked at "Brakeaway" throttle lock.
Appears to be a quality product.

All things considering for me the thumb screw works good enough.

Ah, yeah, no. I'm looking for closer to $60- $70.oo if I have to. Just because something is useful doesn't make it worth crazy money. I'm just sayin'.

I have one of these. They use HD parts. They make a new wiring harness and a chrome cover for the actual cruise control module. It works great!

IIRC , that guy mounts his module where you can see it.. Then covers it, yeah?

The one i have is hidden under neath, where the compressor for Shotgun Shock would ve mounted....
Then you would ask JD to send you the compressor for ABS application... I IF you buy SS..
Then that compressor mounts somewhere else... If that makes sense....
iirc, that link you give,,, the guy lives in Emporia ks, yeah?
I asked him to build my switches and send off to my guy... Both guys are great to work with and excellent work..

I do prefer the totally hidden module tho

Wondering... HOW long of a ride do you take, like 8-10 hrs a day? for 5-10 days in a row.?

For me.....
Let's see,, I only do 1 week long trip (6-9 days) a yr (usually around 1800 miles).. and our 07 Heritage does NOT have CC...

But and I don't seem to have an issue with it.. I've found that the more most people think about a problem, the more it bothers them..

Soo, to fix the problem, I don't think about it.. and I have no issue with not having a CC. I just enjoy the ride.. and yes I do, but seldom use the thumb lock on the interstates....

Other than that,, if I was looking for the latest and greatest on CC for HD's I do a Search in Google...

Yes, it's mounted on the left side of the bike just behind the oil bag. When you say it's underneath, do you mean where the shocks mount? If so, really don't see how that would work. The cable that runs to the throttle body would be in a bind. Who knows though. Guess almost anything is possible.
