Default Mice chewed all my Battery Terminal Wires

Hey All,

So my 91 FXSTC was in storage for the winter with the battery on the tender. I stuffed the battery terminal with a towel but mice chewed through the towel and all the wires in the area. I looked through my clymer but there's no detailed mention of those wires in it. Anyone know how I can do a full replacement? Doing myself vs. shop cost?

Needless to say, I was devastated this morning when putting my battery back in.

Nice scoot! Those mice sure show great taste.

Very likely the towel attracted them making it a very comfy nest...only the wires were in their way, obviously.

I'd start off by purchasing a real copyrighted shop manual and electrical system manual from the MoCo.

Ughhhh, you're right. My initial fear is this is such a daunting task that it'll cost a TON of money or a lot of time. Damnit.

Yeah the manual for the re-wire
Re mice: the little bastards got in the toyhauler yrs ago- Someone turned me on to Peppermint oil, the little bastards hate the smell. I treat the hauler when parked for an extended period and have NEVER had one get in again. Put it on a rag or towel and put under the bike - they won't even go near it next time. Works anywhere to keep 'em away.

PS FYI steel wool rusts - not going near my bikes

That's a good idea, thanks. Though I think I learned my lesson for next winter and may just keep it covered and ride when there's no snow instead of putting it away for the season.

Your towel became the perfect nest for the mice, I've seen it before. I'm not a fan of e technical writers at the MoCo, but I would still use the official service manual.
Check eBay to see if anyone is selling one, and, if not, go to a dealer online who offers 20% off and buy from them.
If I had the book I would send you a copy of the pages you need, but in the meantime you can get started here: http://partstream.arinet.com/Mobile/...41g6Kd_A2.html

Hopefully they didn't gobble any wires you can't see.

That's when the trouble really begins.
