Default Shotgun suspension "issues"

Anyone have an issue with their rear feeling a little wobbly when they hit a corner with a Shotgun shock installed on the bike? I'm trying to pinpoint the issue to whether or not it's related to the Shotgun, my install, or another issue.

1st, I'v read that spacers are not required like with the stock shocks on the rear mounting point. It never really made sense as there's a big gap between the edge of the shock mount and the frame where it sits on the bike. I know it's a single unit, but with the amount of force that's on it, it seems like it could cause an issue. Would there be any negatives to doing this?

The next issue would be that the bolt on the right hand side of the rear mount for the shock is cross threaded. The PO did that and I'm just living with it until I can get it fixed. I'm going to have to remove the exhaust and swing arm to do it. Could this also be an issue?

The shock already has an issue of not holding air. They're taking care of that for me. I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar previously. I'm going to have the shock off the bike so I can send it back tomorrow and figured since I had it off an all...

I ride a Breakout and I push her as far as she can go. I've never felt anything like you're describing with shotguns. In fact, people that ride 2-up often with the shocks feel that the SS handles better than the stock shocks. The one-piece design is better for any swing-arm twisting/sway.

Default shotgunshock

I owned a heritage. I put a shotgunshock on never had a problem. building another Softail will definitely purchase one again. this is the best design out there hands down. there's no reason for it to leak it's full prof.

Have you ridden without your saddle bags?

The extra wind resistance from them could be causing the issues.

Well this is my 3rd one. The first would not hold air at all. The second had a slow leak and would hit rock bottom after several days, and this one gave out on me.

I don't have saddle bags and it's definitely the suspension.

Going on 6 months with mine and so far no issues but you do have a point. Quite a few instances of folks out there having to return them for one reason or another. Their customer service is great so the issues do get resolved though.
