Stopped by the painters today to get an update....They found that it was the steel fender oxidizing, and not any problem with the paint or prep materials. They figure something must have remained on the fender after cleaning, or got on it after cleaning and before painting, but at this point there's no way of knowing what.
They sent it out to have it sand blasted back to raw steel and powder coated before they repaint, but it turns out it can't be powdered because it has a high lead content. The fender was made in Germany, I guess that's ok there?? Anyway, their supposed to get it back today or tomorrow and will epoxy coat it instead.
They probably wont paint it until Fri.or Mon., so I should have it, and the chin spoiler back early next week.

I picked up the fender and chin spoiler a couple weeks ago, but I'm just now getting them ready to reinstall...
The painter did a great job and I'm very happy with the results. I was glad to see he painted the underside, which he left primered last time.
He was also able to buff out the runs in the clear coat on the spoiler!!

Got side tracked, but it'll be back on the road tomorrow!
Before the repaint, I had noticed some light rub marks in the clear coat where the seat meets the fender, so I decided this time to use some 3M vinyl paint protector.
It took a little while to get it sized and positioned just right, but I really wanted it to show as little as possible.
