The penny trick worked great! For the new spring, if you can bend it you can add in the penny's.

Yep, that's what I ended up doing, but it wasn't easy!! I can't believe hard these springs are to bend, especially when they're new... I tried several different ways, and eventually used the angle iron frame that holds some shelving in my garage. It has holes in it for adjusting the shelves, and I was able to hook one end of the spring in a hole and hook the other end thru the eye at the end of a large Crescent wrench, which gave me enough leverage to bend the spring around the corner of the angle iron and jam the pennies in. I had to pretty much fill up the spring with pennies to get it long enough to install it..........But it worked!!!

I'll post some pics tomorrow that show the new lean angle...

Why did you take the entire assembly off brother? When i replace my spring, I just pop the stand off, replace the spring, and pop the stand on, takes a couple minutes tops.?

Pulling the 3 bolts on the assembly only takes a minute, and made it easy to work on inside my air-conditioned house. lol... It's also what service manual instructs for stand replacement, and I've never replaced one before, so I just went by the book.
