Rocker B: MY ROCKER C MOD THREAD
#382
Thanks Sarah!! Glad you got me going on the chin spoiler mod .... I think it's gonna look really nice!!
The Thunderbike rear fender came in!! ...Now I have to figure out the best way to cut and/or grind about 3/16" off the 4 raised fender strut mounting points on the frame (last pic shows the 2 on the right side, rear mount has the hex bolt sticking out). The new fender bolts on at those four points.... I'm thinking a grinder, or maybe I'll hack them off with a cut-off wheel, then use a grinder to smooth/even them out....unless anyone has a better idea???..... also received my "Crimson Red Sunglow" base and mid paint, from Colormania, today!!

Well then Valdemar, YOU should definitely keep it, DON'T do this mod!!!! .... I like the stock fender also, just want to change it up, and remember.... when I'm done, it will be 4 bolts and a plug and I can swap fenders in 15-20 min, if I want......Thinkin I still might run the stocker during the rainy months.

Getting closer...Ground off the strut horns today!!!! Decided to tackle it with just the grinder, didn't use a cut-off wheel. I used tape, cardboard and strips of metal (you can see a door hinge that I took apart and used on top of the oil tank) to protect the paint, then wrapped the bike up in a tarp to keep the metal dust from getting everywhere, cut a couple holes in it....then went for it!!
Worked out great!! I'll fit the fender in the a.m. and post another pic....

Using that piece of door hinge was a good safety precaution...good thinking!
You know, if modern day surgeons paid as much attention to their work as you and LA_Dog do to your bike mods,
there'd be a lot fewer patients closed up with "sponges" left inside!
Good thread.

Got the fender fitted, I did a little fine tuning with the grinder on the mounts, and was able to get it centered over the tire without having to use any spacers, I did need to drill new holes in the fuse box mounting plate, and move the fuse box forward about 1/4" to be able to get the fender far enough forward to align the mounting holes ....and I think my current Danny Gray seat is going to work fine, just need to modify the mounts... I'm glad, because it's super comfortable!!....also, I think I'm gonna leave the belt guard off, I like the open look...
