I totally agree with EagleRay. In the past I was considering the Crossfire spoiler too but the fact that it hasn't vent holes/slots or a grid made me prefer the OEM one. Another HDF user drilled kinda slots on the Crossfire and the cosmetic result was really nice, probably even better than as is. See attached pic.
Voltage regulator needs to be cooled, that's not an option, is a fact and an insufficient vent could lead to an expensive damage and failure.
Once you'll have the Thunderbike spoiler you'll also have the chance to make something original, eg. some vertical slots...

Honestly dunno the reason but if you ride in warm/hot temps vent is vital.
If I had to create slots on the Crossfire I'd make a longer, vertical center slot and two simmetrical shorter ones (one per side) with a thin grid behind to avoid debris from entering the spoiler... shouldn't look bad either...

If you go by pictures don't refer to the pics of the custom bikes on the Thunderbird website. A lot of those bikes and the parts they fitted to them are for show only....neither are all of them street legal nor practical

Another variation might be to have the slots match the "slots" on the primary cover. A dremel or wheel might make that effect.
