Given its unique shape, if you can get one with stock accessories like the two-up seat (whether you ride two up or not), I would sway that way because from what I hear they are impossible to find and Harley doesn't make them anymore.

No particular issues with any year of the Rocker. Paint and corrosion issues are typical Harley, nothing special about the Rocker.

The rarest color is the bright red-orange ("red hot"?), and I think that may have only been available on the 2010 and 11.

Last I checked (after totaling one), all parts could be ordered through the dealer, except the "touring pillion" passenger setup, and maybe the driver seat.

The main parts that are different from the Breakout are front end, tank, seats, and rear fender and struts.

Since you are in the research mode, I'll share some information I posted to another forum.

HD made the Rocker from 2008 to 2011. Originally there were two Models the FXCW (Rocker) and the chromed out brother FXCWC (Rocker C). 2008 and 2009 were the only two years for the FXCW, while the FXCWC was made all four years. There are several colors throughout the four year span.

I like the clean look of the Rocker. Wiring is routed through the handlebars, which keeps the front end looking uncluttered. There aren't a lot of things "sticking out", and that suits me. Most of the time I don't need to carry much so I don't really care for saddle bags, etc. If I leave for the weekend everything I need will fit in a backpack. If I'm camping, I can tie a sleeping bag onto the handlebars. The rear fender is attached to the swing arm and designed to move up and down with the tire. This allows a very small gap, but you would not want to put a passenger on that fender nor load it up with gear. HD made an optional rack that can bolt on and that would be handy. I plan to design my own. Although it is a softail it is a fairly stiff ride. I wonder if anyone has ever done an iron butt ride on the Rocker. I bought the bike for its looks, not for touring. It fits the bill.

My dad was a biker, but back in the 50's and 60's they were called "hoodlums" instead of biker. My first ride was on a 1949 Panhead. I was five or six years old and I loved it. Some of my dad's friends rode choppers and I thought they were the coolest bike. I had always hoped to have a chopper and the Rocker is close enough.

The 96 ci engine is pretty torquey in my opinion. I like it. It feels very powerful taking off, and that is a lot of fun. In the beginning I was concerned how it would handle riding through California canyons. Surprisingly it handles the twisties just fine. I'm not one to push the limits in the curves but I do like to get on it when I can. I think HD got the engineering just right on this one. Even though it is a factory made chopper, it handles a U-turn very well. I live in a typical neighborhood and have no trouble turning around within the width of a residential street. Flying through the curves it reminds me a little of my 1976 L-82 Corvette. You kinda get the feeling that it does a lot of the work and you steer "with it" instead of "against it". You find that all you need to do is push down on the handlebars as you enter the turn, maintain the pressure until you are ready, then ease up. The bike stands up on it's own and comes out of the turn smoothly. As you get used to that it becomes a lot of fun. I'm comfortable doing a lot of turns one handed, but save that for right hand turns so I can stay on the throttle as needed.

Since day one it has been a head turner. Everywhere I go people comment about the bike and take pictures of it. I've had people video me riding down a freeway, etc. Kids are drawn to it like a magnet and that is a blast.

It has a low seat height, which I appreciate. I am just under 5' 8" and sit quite comfortably flat footed at traffic lights. I feel like I am sitting in it as opposed to on it. This is a nice feeling going down the highway at 75-80. This is the first six speed that I've owned. I shift into 6th gear at about 75. A little green light comes on when you get into 6th.

It is a hefty bike at 720 lbs. Taking it off the jiffy stand takes some effort. Of course, turning the handlebars all the way to the right first makes that task considerably easier. My bike has the optional security alarm. This means I have to have the fob with me at all times. It is a very loud alarm I have discovered on a couple of occasions. The ignition key also locks the forks so when I'm leaving the bike for any extended period or have other concerns I feel pretty safe after locking the forks and knowing the screaming alarm is set.

It has electronic fuel injection. Once I click the kill switch to "ON" I wait until the little red engine light goes off and the bike starts with ease. There is a push button switch on the side of the speedometer cluster that has very useful information. With a push you can determine how many miles are on the odometer, how many kilometers are on the odometer, how many miles until the tank is empty, Trip A and Trip B, and a digital clock. The turn signals automatically cancel once you've completed your turn. The horn is pretty wimpy and sounds like a Kia. I'd prefer one that sounds like a Kenworth. I appreciate the five gallon fuel tank for those long trips.

The bike is comfortable on the highway for the long haul. So far my longest ride has been just over 350 miles. Based on that I wouldn't hesitate to take off for a 500 mile jaunt. My favorite is the back roads. You can really relax on the bike and let it do its thing as you take in the air and scenery.

When my bike is paid for I will likely add another. I don't know what it will be but I will keep the Rocker indefinitely and find another that compliments my riding style.

I tried to find samples of the factory colors on bikes that are still very much stock. I will post the endless possible custom versions I've collected so far.

Matte Black, 2009 FXCWC

Crimson Red Sunglo, 2009 FXCWC with Passenger Pillion
