Default 14 heritage brake upgrade

Ok everyone here goes the latest question.

I know that PM and HHI as well as others make 6 piston calipers for our rides and they are a significant improvement over the stock setup. I also know they are compatible with the ABS that is standard on my ride.

My question is this. Currently the 14 came with 11.5 inch rotors. Has anyone put on the 11.8 inch rotor from a 2016 softail or a touring model? If so did it make a big difference? You can find the stock been I caliper cheap on auction websites and the rotor as well but is it that much of an improvement over the stock 14 stuff?

I ask because I would consider upgrading to the larger rotor and the PM caliper if there is an improvement in the feel of the brakes.

Yes I can get the ABS to activate now but to do so really requires pulling hard on the lever. Doesn't seem to be enough "bite" from the fronts. So that means they are adequTe to stop the ride but I am looking at a more responsive feel.

Additionally would upgrading to 13 inch rotors fit on stock heritage smoothie wire wheels?

This is not an answer to your question but have you tried some after maket pads like Lyndall gold? Would only cost you one HD buck and may be all you need.

Default It will work...

Check out this thread I posted.... I have a 2009 Night Train, i put a HD 11.8" full floating rotor on the front of my bike, I also bought a HD caliper for a 2015/2016 Breakout and put it on. The caliper is a quick take up and the front brake response is greatly improved. Everything will bolt right up, however you will need to purchase one different length bolt to mount the new caliper and my original caliper has different length bolts due to thread placement within the original caliper. Hope this helps....
