Don't know if you ever accomplished the switch mentioned here. IMHO an 18" tire shows more rim than tire. A 16 inch tire looks meaty and will absorb more road bumps. I would go no lower than 65T on a narrow belt. You can easily find Old Sporty pulleys with 61T. If you do a lot of highway miles then OK. I found an Old wide tire kit 65T pulley from a take off salvage business. It looks good as new after my Powdercoater got done with it. If you are using the stock fender, go no wider than 150. As I recall Harley never did make a 70T narrow pulley. You will have to go after market for that. And you will also need a Narrow belt guard. They are getting harder to find. You can find the part numbers in this thread.

I recently installed my own wide tire kit. It's now a 92" FXSTC with a 150 rear. I used a 16" x 3.5 spoked rim, 1 1/8" narrow pulley, and spaced out the rear pulley 1/4". The stock Bobtail fender fits nicely, I needed a wide tire Belt guard too. The 61Tpulley (sportster) uses a 125, or 126 tooth belt for the Evo Softail. And I stand corrected on the 70T narrow pulley, that Harley made. I found one and have sent it to my powder coater. I know you can get a 200MM tire on if you swap the fender and swingarm. That wasn't an option for me. I wanted to keep the stock Sheetmetal for a factory look.

The stock Bobtail fender fits nicely

70T Narrow rear belt Pulley

The part No. is the same as a wide belt pulley. I cant explain it. Do Be careful when you buy.

1 1/8" wide

Brand New! NOS parts are awsome to find!
70T Narrow pulley

Default Need pulley alternative

I am looking for an alternative pulley for the one that was in the wide tire kit. That pulley (40391-98) is discontinued. What I need is a 65 tooth, 1 1/8" pulley that will fit a 1997 Flstc Heritage softtail. I am hoping somebody on here has found a solution for an alternative part. Thanks for your time.

You will need a 1 1/8" pulley and belt to use a wider tire than a stock 130mm on an Evo. The aftermarket is full of them.

My bad, typo. Yes I need a 1 1/8" pulley. Center hole is 1.96" 3" bolt pattern and need to know if the off sets front and rear will fit. Yes there are many 65 tooth 1 1/8" pulleys on the interwebs. How do I know they will fit?

Any Softail or Sportster pulley will fit. I would stay with the original tooth count. See post No. 2 and No. 8 on this thread.

Default difference between 97 & 2000&up

Thank you Sir Harley for your input. I'm still trying to find out the difference between a 1997 softail pulley (65 tooth, 1 1/8" wide for the wide tire kit) and a 2000-2006 pulley. I think there was a change in the center hole. 1.96" on a 97 and 2.25" on a 2006-2006. Thank you Sir Harley for your input on the prebious posts.

Well they did change the swingarms/wheels/bearings around then, so that makes sense. Use any Narrow Softail pulley up to 1999. (65T or 70T) Good luck
