The fender on my BO is too short to stop anything from hitting me and I wonder why they designed it to be that way.

true that- the BO's fenders don't do much at all but I am glad they went with the minimalist style fenders. My Big Dog chopper has no front fender with just an RSD fork brace. hitting some water with either bike still gets me wet about the same and motors get covered about the same.
