Default Security siren

Can anyone tell me if you have to remove the rear tire on a new Heritage to install the smart siren behind the rear tire deflector shield. Instructions don't say it but the picture does show it removed. If so I have to pick up a 36 mm socket. Thanks for any input

I had the dealer install a siren installed on my '13 Heritage, and while for whatever reason it was more difficult than installing one on my Fatbob (which I did myself), I don't think they had to remove the rear tire. I'm planning on putting a siren on my '14 so I'm interested on what the Forum has to say...

You do not. Just two bolts in front of the rear tire, remove the plastic fender close out. When you get the bolts out lift up on the panel and it will come off its notch on the top of the swing arm and you can get it out of the way. The panel can be tricky to hook back on the swing arm for reinstall. If so, remove the seat and he computer tray and you can reach down and hook the panel back up. The siren hookup and spot it snaps into is right there when you remove the panel. Easy job, I did it. That siren is annoying I can tell you that. My kids don't go near the bike for fear of that shriek. Lol
