Default Newb question about changing the battery

Sorry guys, I tried a search for it but couldn't find anything.

2010 Fat boy lo

I have changed plenty of bike batteries over the years but never on a Harley.

Bought a new battery today, I had to jump my bike when I went to
a store, just to get it home.

Took the seat off & disconnected the negative, then the positive & alarm went off, do I have to bypass the alarm to disconnect the battery?

This alarm would wake up the dead hahahaha Holy ****!!!!

Thanks!

I took the battery out my Springer today because it was dead, got a new battery and for the life of me I have no idea how to reconnect all the wires. Feeling embarrassed and had to call a friend to come install it for me on Monday. Yes I should have tied off all the wires on either side but I didn't.

Ho hum I'm just a girl. Lucky I have 2 bikes. Back to cooking and cleaning house for me lol.

Sorry I can't help you Swing.

Siren Equipped Models

When disconnecting the battery or removing the main fuse, perform the following steps to prevent the optional siren from sounding.
  1. Verify that the fob is present.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to IGNITION.
  3. Pull the main fuse from its holder or disconnect the battery.
NOTE:
Place the ignition switch in the OFF position before installing the main fuse.

I had an alarm on my last bike and was told to turn the ignition on to keep it from going off.

Edit...typing with one finger makes for a slow reply.

Just a thought for the future. Since just about everybody has a phone with a camera, take a picture of what you are going to work on before and during assembly. I just changed a circuit board in a control head for a swimming pool and even tho i marked the diagram, about 15 different wires etc. the picture proved invaluable.

Lauren I'll be happy to send you a pic of the wires and how the hook up if you like to get it done - just let me know. I'll be happy to go pull my seat and take a pic and make a note for you.

The ground (Earth to you British folks) aka negative wire will be terminated on the frame, from memory you can trace it to grounding bolt near the battery.
