I've been riding my Springer for almost 11 years and no heat issues with me either. The only times that I've felt a lot of heat was off the motor when I was riding in very slow stop and go traffic during the summer, example-- Sturgis.

my only comment is that if you switch to a small spring seat then you are going to feel a lot more of the heat from the tank.. and even get burnt by it.. don't ask me how I know... :-)
