No matter what you decide, I strongly suggest to have the crank addressed to handle the extra horsepower and torque.
I agree, I might wait until I have more $$$ to do a complete setup.

Please elaborate more on the crank issue, I'm not sure what you are suggesting, thanks.

Correct, I'm not going to change my exhaust system for now... just make it work with the new setup, and i agree i don't like the way that the X pipe looks.

on the 96''ers,,, its NOT Crank run-out that you see ,, IT's End shaft Run-out, where the cam chain Sprocket goes on the end of the crankshaft and its not Ground at the factory, it's just left Raw... That was a new and different way in the Machining of the Crankshaft VS the 88's and Even Greater in EVO's that had gear cam gears. The "Evos had to be Spot on because they were gear cams.. but not the 96''er because they were chain sprockets and didn't have to have as close of Tolerances.

A chain sprocket set-up can be out a """LOT""" more than a Gear drive set up. that's why the MoCo changed the rules when they came out with the HYD system on the 96''ers. And that's also why a lot of old timers can't envision how or what the changes really are and still think anything over .001 or .002 runout is terrible..

Now with that being said.. on a 96''er your don't/shouldn't ever need to change to gear cams because the Hyd System solved the Cam tensioners issue that the 88''er had.
While on the other hand.. if you have a 88''er than is within runout specs, then you can go to gear cams to totally get rid of the Tensioners problem

The MoCo changed the runout spec from 0.003" max to 0.012" max because of all the warranty claims.

The cam plate and oil pump itself is still going to be affected anything over 0.003" (read: oval shaped) no matter if it is a chain or gear drive cam setup.
