Default Rear pulley replace or still OK?

Hi All
Just changing the rear tyre after two seasons and 8000 miles and was rather disturbed to find the rear pulley looking rather sh... expensive!!

The chrome seems to have broken away from the top of all the teeth.
Inner sprocket looks pretty good still and the belt itself seems perfectly fine as well.

I've attached a couple of pics and would really appreciate the collective's opinion - these things last longer than this, surely?

cheers
Gordon

i dont think you can expect something which is in constant motion and having something rub on it to remain pristine.. i think you're okay, as long as it's straight.. however, if you remove it from the wheel, it's recommended to replace the bolts.

Agree w/Jim. There is all kinds of crap like road chips and dust that get on that belt and get ground against the pulley teeth. Get an outsude calipers and check the width of the individual teeth against a new one and you'll not find much differenceI bet.
I have 65k miles on a Big Dog and the teeth are almost sharp...must be replaced this winter.

so don't worry too much about the chrome as long as there aren't great chunks of tooth missing, or they are worn sharp.

Many thanks

If you find any damage you may want to check the one up front too...

Just the chrome has pitted and pealed in an area of wear, 100% normal for chrome. I would have no problem running that pulley. Its in a pretty discrete area anyways.

Not to mention to me it looks like you dont take the best care of the chrome on your bike, the hub/ spacer area behind the pulley looks like the chrome pitted and dirty... not good for chrome, it'll pit, peal, and deteriorate rather quickly if you don't polish it up soon.

Eagle eyes or what guilty ...you caught me in between wash/polish but that was because I was pulling her to bits and polishing as I go, honest, and the wheel is mint - although I never realised I had to polish each pulley tooth
