Nova- a Harley that could have been.
1981 prototype 4 cylinder, air scoops on "gas" tank, radiator under seat, water cooled. Wonder where this bike would be now??

I just recieved that magzine today. Sure looks strange with out a front down tube.
I gald Harley didn't go that direction.

I was really into performance motorcycles back in those days. I remember this project very well. I had a killer Kawasaki LTD 1000 with all of the hop ups of those days.
Those were hard times for HD, and I'm sure they felt to survive, they needed tocompetewitha performance machine of their own.
They found their ultimate survival by just improving what they were doing all along.

scrap yard i hope, looks like harley was biting off of harley with that prototype. glad they burried it.

If you read the history on it Harley actually came out with a in line 4 Nova prototype before the Metrics. It never went beyound a mock up.
