Default Sportster to Springer

Been riding my Sporty 883 for 2 years & love it. I commute 5mi to work often. Rarely do I do highways or big trips. I'm a smaller guy & its been perfect. Had a friend of a friend moving & want to sell their 98 Springer 33k mi. I ended up getting it for $3500, I pick it up tomorrow.

What the consensus on the 98 Springer? Anybody regret moving from a Sporty to a Springer? What are the main upgrades to convince me not to just flip this & sell the Sporty instead?

You stole that Springer. The forks are worth 1/2 of what you paid for it.

Ride it and I think you'll love it. If you don't sell it.

Man nice buy if it runs good. At 33k it's not broke in yet. Change the fluids check the tires and enjoy

nice score....I have 2 friends with over 150K on theirs. the only thing to watch is the lifters an cam bearing. I think if you try it you will like the riding position.

I am a big fan of a Springer, matter of fact, my 05 Springer has a little over 94k on her. If it was me, I'd keep the Springer. No offense to those that like the Sporty but most anybody can get a 883 but how many have you seen that have a Springer.

Luckily for me my father in law owns a bike shop & can really go through the thing & make sure its 100%.

I really dont know much about it, is it a desired old model or one that was discontinued due to lack of interest? I know it needs a new set of pipes, recommendations?
