the more I look at it the more I see it's a younger mans bike. I've had a superglide for the past two years but have decided to go with a softail recently due to my sore back and better comfort. just needed something better for long haul trips, plus the fatboy has always been my dream bike. I could never do long trips on a breakout. I've had bikes with a 200 tire, but anything bigger just doesn't seem to handle to well to me, but that's just my experience, to each his own. though the breakout looks mean, that's for sure

I'm an old guy and I like the looks of mine, . But then, I've changed some things, as one does.

I'm sure the bean counters saw that some people spent the money to put on a wide tire and a rake on the front of some bikes. They figured they were losing out on the sales so they came up with the Breakout. I would think they did enough studies that they knew it would sell or they would not have built them.
I didn't plan on buying a Breakout but after test riding a few bikes I had to have one. I'm a old guy and love mine.

I fell in love with one, bought it then quickly fell out of love with it and traded it in on a Deluxe. Much happier with the Deluxe

what was it that made you fall out of love with it. guess I'd have to ride one to understand it, kinda like women except I've ridden plenty and still don't understand them, just sayin

Default Youngster's Bike..

I'm only 50 ....... sooooooo yeah only us youngster's like it!!!

Its not just low slung and wide for looks, the design comes from dragster bikes. Something about aerodynamics and some other math/science stuff!!

Funny someone mentioned Suzuki M109R and V-Rod Muscle... I owned both of those bikes also, the fat tire makes no difference in performance to me. I may have to lean harder.....but I like it like that!!

Ride on....

Love the breakout. I'm an 'old guy'.
Since we're critic-ing, what is the fat tall tire on the front of the 48 all about?
That I don't get. Is that bike for mud bogging?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess
love the breakout look. Was going to buy one until my girl saw the freewheeler.
(Sorry I strayed from thread subject. AND included a trike. I'll go away)

It seems to be one of those bikes that you either love or hate. I fell in love with it 2 years ago when I first saw it. Worked my *** off and now I finally have one. It's what I wanted and so that's what I got. Different strokes for different folks. As far as the handling on the breakout. I think it handles just fine. Scrapes pegs fairly easy but that can be changed. I don't think the wide back tire holds me back from throwing it around at all.
