Hey Puttnutt! I just installed a set of Rush mufflers on my Fat Boy S. I wanted to keep the stock look of the shot-guns. Anyway, I had one hell of a time removing the OEM mufflers. Let's just say it was ugly. Were yours borderline "seized"?
when i bought my 2010 fatboy lo i had the dealer put my rush slip on mufflers on they charge me 35.00 well worth it i saw the 4 little bolts in the mufflers i said no way i could get them off
This is my first set of Rush. I went with the 2" baffles. They sound just like they should! I love Vance and Hines but I just wanted to keep the OEM "look" this time. The OEM heat shields went right back on. About those bolts...they are always a PIA but my issue was that the mufflers were all but seized on the head pipes. I tried all of the "usual" methods (not my first rodeo) and ended up having to drive them off. They resisted heat, solvents, twisting and cussing, but when the hammer and flat chisel showed up they relented...slowly but surely. I also had to drill one hole in the support bracket for the forward boss on the lower muffler. They were supposed to fit but when I checked the parts manual and found that the muffler support bracket for the Fat Boy S is for whatever reason different from the others, I drilled the hole.
