Some of you fellas are assuming that every Dunlop tire is identical to the next and that they all use the same tire compound. They don't.
Just because you got 10K+ miles from the Dunlop rear tire on your bike doesn't mean "there's something wrong" if someone else gets 5K-6K from the rear tire on theirs. Every tire manufacturer builds tires for a full range of uses, with hard to soft tire compounds, and having differing mileage expectations. For instance, touring bikes, which are generally expected to be ridden more and farther than other types, may be fitted with harder compound, longer mileage tires while sport bikes would likely be mounted with soft compound, maximum traction/low mileage tires. Cruisers may leave the factory with something in between.
On a personal note, I bought a 2007 Fatty new last October after not having ridden a bike in nearly 30 years. Since then I've put ~2500 miles on the bike, all solo miles, and all babied and, although I can't estimate how much life is left in it, my big 200mm rear tire shows definite signs of wear. Also, fwiw, I was told by my dealer at the time of purchase that I should expect to get approximately 5K from my factory tires.

I check air pressure once a week and I ride solo. I change out my rear tire every 5k, and it still has sometread left. I will not run them bald.I've switched to Pirelli tires.
